How to Combat Break-Ins at Small Businesses

Combat Break-Ins at Retail Locations with Security Film

Recently, Kansas City has been plagued by a surge in smash and grab robberies. With thieves targeting local businesses, stealing everything from cash to merchandise and operating equipment, it’s left business owners feeling increasingly vulnerable and frustrated. The relentless nature of these crimes has not only led to financial losses but also created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.

Midwest Tinting Customer Review

Glass is a vulnerable entry point on every building. As business owners are forced to tighten security measures, Midwest Tinting has a solution: Safety and Security Film. With our Black Friday Sale offering our biggest discount of the year, we urge those with store fronts to contact us for a FREE consultation.

Safety Film is much thicker than normal window tint. It is a film 8 millimeters or thicker, paired with a commercial grade, heavy duty caulking that bonds the film to the window frames. It holds the glass together and prevents the shattering effect that allows immediate entry.

When intruders attempt to break-in, the film works as a deterrent, slowing them down and making it more difficult and time consuming to gain entry. This creates more time to alert authorities when every second counts.

Benefits of Security Film:

  • Can be installed on existing windows and frames
  • Clear, tinted, mirrored, and frosted options are available
  • Bonded at the frame so it holds the building envelope together
  • Holds broken glass shards together
  • Helps to protect from smash & grab robberies
  • UV Protection

City officials noted that around 120 applications have been sent in as of Thursday as many owners continue to finalize repairs and preventative measures. Business owners are required to submit receipts or invoices to get the reimbursement grants.
To be eligible, businesses must:

  • Be independently owned with fewer than 50 employees
  • Demonstrate physical damage from break-ins or preventative actions taken after July 1, 2024.
